A cultural journey through India's northeast frontier exploring traditional handweaving in Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland. Accompanied by textile expert Anna-Louise Meynell.

During this tour we will:
-Learn about the raw materials of Northeast India - locally cultivated eri silk, muga silk, nettle
and cotton. Unpick the myth of ahimsa, peace silk.
-Try our hands at spinning, natural dyeing, warping and weaving in different artisan communities of the tour.
- Visit a weaving community on the banks of the Dhansiri River in Assam, see the complex supplementary weft designs woven on basic bamboo looms.
-Interact with the Khasi, Ahom, Mishing and Naga tribes and learn about their traditional culture.
-Go for wildlife and birding jeep safaris in Kaziranga National Park.
-Take gentle walks around villages, hills and paddy fields.
-Learn about integrated lifestyle of agriculture and textiles.
-Understand bamboo craft in a Naga workshop.
